Who we are

A Christian community, doing life together for the common good.

One Church Brighton is a broad and inclusive church, full of brilliant but imperfect people who are trying to work out how the Christian faith makes sense in the real world. We do lots of different activities in and around Brighton, but on Sundays we gather together for worship at 10:30am at Florence Road. We sing some songs, we talk to one another and we try to be open, honest and real.

Our values shape all we do

Spend much time with us and you’ll hear us speak of our values, we see these as orientating stories that shape our shared practice together and guide the decisions we take. So in order to understand what we do, you need to understand why we do it. Our values unpack this.

What we do

  • INTIMACY with God
  • INVOLVEMENT in the world
  • INTERDEPENDENCE with each other
  • INCLUSION of everyone
  • INTEGRITY in all we do

We are an LGBTQ+ affirming church

If you’re a member of the LGBTQ+ community, then please know that you can find a safe, welcoming church family here in which we welcome your participation without any glass ceilings or hidden agendas. We believe we need each other, with all our beautiful diversity and difference, to reflect the creativity, image, and joy of God.

We know that many religious spaces are unsafe environments for LGBTQ+ people. If walking into our building on a Sunday feels like too big of a first step and you’d rather meet one of our team for a chat first, then please please do get in touch. We’d love to meet you.

One Church Brighton
CAN YOU HELP? We need a little team of volunteers CAN YOU HELP?
We need a little team of volunteers for our Reading Room launch night next Thursday. If you're up for serving (and then eating) some delicious Chilli Shaak curry, and keeping the dishwasher running at full pelt all evening, please let us know. Looking for at least 5 people, and we'll need you from 6pm - 10.30pm. (If you're free for a part of that time that's super helpful too!)
Thanks!! 🙂
Our little book corner is getting a proper launch! Our little book corner is getting a proper launch!
We're hoping that the Brighton Reading Room is a place of conversation and discovery, where we get to learn and think and dream of better ways of being human.
But more than that, we want the books that we read and the stories they tell to push us into solidarity and action.
That's why the way the launch is happening feels so special - speakers from across the world sharing their stories and journeys with us, all over a terrific curry.
Come join us if you like!
Next Thursday, 1st June, 6.45pm at One Church Florence Road
For free tickets search 'Brighton Reading Room' on Eventbrite.
Thanks once again to all who made our weekend away Thanks once again to all who made our weekend away just SO special last weekend. The stories, the food, the songs about inflatable alligators, the fires, the forests, the dancing into the night, the connections, the creativity, the yoga, the space to talk and breathe and notice, the throwing yourself face first down a tarp, the sheer amount of smiling and laughing and seeing one another.
There were so many beautiful moments, but the thing that stands out is how these are moments that reflect something of the breadth and openness and love and capacity of the humans that make up our bizarre little church community.
So thanks to you (whether you were there or not) for making this the space that it is. 🙂

A few snaps from our lovely mid-spring feast on Su A few snaps from our lovely mid-spring feast on Sunday. Rock Farm was in fine form, as was the ludicrous feast cooked up by Bukky. So much colour, flavour, laughter, freshly picked salad and beautiful memories. One of those moments that makes this community so much flipping fun. Thanks everyone!
🌻 This Sunday, 30th April, we WON'T BE AT FLORE 🌻 This Sunday, 30th April, we WON'T BE AT FLORENCE ROAD. 🌻
